Clay base coat plaster

Coarse clay plaster, also known as clay base coat, is a plaster applied directly to the existing wall and is made from clay and sand. Coarse plaster is used to level old or uneven masonry, create flat leveling layers for interior insulation, fill wall heating surfaces, or embed mesh. It is applied using plastering machines or by hand. Coarse plaster is generally applied in layers up to 3 cm thick. For crooked or curved walls, it is sometimes necessary to work with multiple layers of coarse plaster. Once the first layer has set, the next layer can be applied. This is repeated until the wall is leveled sufficiently to be ready for the finish plaster.

It is particularly well-suited for use in ecological and sustainable construction projects, as it is free of harmful chemicals and offers high moisture regulation. Clay base coat is also a popular choice for the renovation of historic buildings and can be produced in various textures and colors to achieve different aesthetic effects.

Our coarse clay plaster is made from 100% regional raw materials and can also be produced from your own excavated soil (for new construction projects).
